Hail hit. Now what?

Alberta gets more hail than anywhere else in Canada, and the Edmonton region gets its share every June, July and August. Most home insurance policies cover hail and wind damage to your roof. Most homeowners have never made a claim and don’t know where to start. That’s the part we do for you.

How an insurance roof claim works with Reid’s

1. Free inspection

   We go on the roof, photograph every slope, count the hits, and check the eavestroughs, siding, vents and skylights too. You get the photos whether or not you hire us.

2. You open the claim

   You call your insurer. We’ll tell you exactly what to say and what to ask for. You don’t sign anything over to us.

3. We meet the adjuster

   The adjuster comes out; we’re on the roof with them, walking through the same damage we documented. This is the step that decides whether the claim is approved in full.

4. Scope and paperwork

   We match our quote to the insurer’s scope line by line, flag anything they missed, and handle the back-and-forth.

5. New roof

   Once approved, we book you in. Same crews, same 10-year workmanship warranty as any other Reid’s roof. We invoice the insurer directly where they allow it.

Things worth knowing

• You choose the contractor, not the insurer. You are never required to use the company they suggest.
• Claims usually have a one-year window from the storm date. Don’t wait for the next one.
• Upgrading to Class 4 impact-resistant shingles during a claim often costs little extra and can reduce your premium.
• Don’t let anyone pressure you into signing a contract on your doorstep the day after a storm.
• Hail damage isn’t always visible from the ground. Bruised shingles lose granules and fail early.
